Introduction

This chapter provides information on assembly, construction and connection of control systems of the product familiy AC500.

The AC500 product family consists of the sub-families:

• AC500 (standard): standard PLC that offers a wide range of performance levels and scalability.
• AC500-eCo: cost-effective PLC that offers total inter-operability with the core AC500 range.
• AC500-S: PLC for special safety requirements in all functional safety applications.

As a product variant AC500 (standard) and AC500-S provides devices with -XC extension. Those devices operate mainly identical to the appropriate AC500 product family, however, can be operated under extreme conditions System Data AC500-XC.

AC500 product family is charactarized by functional modularity, i.e. the devices of all AC500 sub-families can be flexible combined as desired.

S500 devices refer to the I/O Modules of the sub-family AC500 (standard), S500-eCo devices refer to the I/O Modules of the sub-family AC500-eCo. Those devices can also be combined as desired with all AC500 products.

As assembly, construction and connection for the devices of the AC500 product family is similar, information that is valid for all sub-families is provided within an overall section System Assembly, Construction and Connection. Details that are only valid for a specific AC500 sub-family are described in separate sections.
