Dialog ‘Properties’ - ‘Encryption’

Function: This dialog contains the properties for the encryption of the application and boot application.

Call:

• Main menu: View ‣ Properties
• Context menu of an application object

Encryption technology

In this dialog, you select the encryption technology for the Application. If the option Encryption of downloads, online changes, and boot applications is activated in the Security screen view in the area Security level, then the Encryption with X509 certificates is set and cannot be changed in this dialog.
No encryption
Simple encryption	You can download the boot application to the PLC only when the defined dongle (license key) is connected to the computer. This dongle is provided by ABB Automation Products GmbH or by the respective hardware manufacturer. The firm code is displayed. Type the product code that was provided.
Encryption with license management	You can download the boot application to the PLC only after you have typed the product code and firm code and the respective dongle is connected to both the development computer and PLC. You receive the codes from the vendor that manages the licenses.
Encryption with X509 certificates	The area X509 certificates is active: : The Certificate selection appears dialog for selecting certificates of devices that share the encrypted download and the boot application and that of Sign application code digitally. Sign application code digitally: The application is signed with a digitally signature. The certificate for the digital signature is specified in the User tab of the Security screen view. The option cannot be activated if the option Force signing of downloads, online changes, and boot applications is activated in the User tab of the Security-Screen view.
