Hot Swap

H = Hot swap

Note

:strong:Hot swap

  • Hot-swappable terminal units have the appendix TU5xx:strong:-H.
  • I/O modules as of index F0.
  • Communication interface modules CI5xx as of index F0.

Note

The index of the module is in the right corner of the label.

Attention

:strong:Risk of damage to I/O modules!

Modules with index below F0 can be damaged when inserted or removed from the terminal unit in a powered system.

Note

Hot swapping is only allowed for I/O modules.

Processor modules and communication interface modules must not be removed or inserted during operation.

Attention

:strong:Risk of damage to I/O modules!

Do not perform any hot swap action if any I/O module with firmware version lower than 3.0.14 (for index see table below) is contained in the affected cluster.

XC Version

XC = eXtreme Conditions

../_images/84a324e011d9c12a0a317f34548bf149

Note

:strong:Extreme conditions

Terminal units for use in extreme ambient conditions have no a2ef5366e38907570a33139000473a6a_8947728044164ae90a317f346f1c6afe sign for XC version.

The figure 4 in the Order No. 1SAP4… (lable) identifies the XC version.

The input/output modules (decentralized communication interface modules) plug into the I/O terminal unit. When properly seated, they are secured with two mechanical locks. All the electrical connections are established via the terminal unit, which allows removal and replacement of the I/O modules without disturbing the wiring at the terminal unit.

The I/O terminal units TU515, TU516, TU516-H and TU542 are specifically designed for use with AC500/S500 I/O modules that incorporate only 24 VDC or analog inputs/outputs.

Note

For a detailed description of the mounting, disassembly and electrical connection of the terminal units and the I/O modules, please refer to the “System Assembly, Construction and Connection” chapter AC500 (Standard).

The following terminals are used for connection of the process voltage supply.

  Terminals
Type 1.8 2.8 3.8 4.8 1.9 2.9 3.9 4.9
TU515, TU516 and TU516-H These terminals are internally connected with assignment: process voltage UP = +24 VDC These terminals are internally connected with assignment: process voltage ZP = 0 V
TU542 These terminals are internally connected with assignment: process voltage UP = +24 VDC Separate process voltage UP3 = +24 VDC Separate process voltage UP4 = +24 VDC These terminals are internally connected with assignment: process voltage ZP = 0 V Separate process voltage ZP = 0 V Separate process voltage ZP = 0 V

The assignment of the other terminals depends on the inserted decentralized communication interface module (see the description of the respective module used).
