The PROFINET:sup:® IO Terminal Unit TU520-ETH (with spring terminals) are specifically designed for use with AC500/S500 PROFINET® IO Bus Modules (e. g. CI504-PNIO, CI506-PNIO).

The PROFINET:sup:® IO Bus Modules plug into the PROFINET® IO Terminal Unit. When properly seated, they are secured with two mechanical locks. All the electrical connections are made through the PROFINET® IO Terminal Unit, which allows removal and replacement of the Bus Modules without disturbing the wiring at the PROFINET® IO Terminal Unit.

Note

Note: Mounting, disassembling and electrical connection for the Terminal Units and the I/O Modules are described in detail in Mounting and Disassembling the Terminal Units and the I/O Modules Mounting and disassembling the Terminal Bases, the CPUs and the Communication \ Modules - for PM57x, PM58x and PM59x only.

The terminals 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 as well as 1.1, 2.1 and 3.1 are electrically interconnected within the PROFINET:sup:® IO Terminal Unit and have always the same assignment, independent of the inserted PROFINET® IO Bus Module:

  • Terminals 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0: process supply voltage UP = +24 V DC
  • Terminals 1.0, 2.1 and 3.1: process supply voltage ZP = 0 V

The assignment of the bus system terminals is dependent on the inserted PROFINETâ IO Bus Module (see Ethernet Bus Modules Overview).

For usage in extreme ambient conditions (e.g. wider temperature and humidity range), a special XC version of the device is available.

Attention

:strong:Risk of corossion!

Unused RJ45 connectors may corrode if using XC Devices in salt mist environments.
