Project Tree in Online Mode

When Automation Builder enters Online Mode internally, an identification message (like a “ping” command) is sent to all configured Communication Modules.

The connection’s status to a module is depending on the response to the identification message and displayed by a symbol in the device tree:

../_images/b1f84b6146009c600a33139000eba54e Module responds to identification message and is available for online connection.
../_images/614521904600a1120a33139000eba54e Module responds to identification message, but some warning messages are available. See Error_Messages_Warnings_Notes for details Error Messages, Warnings and Notes in Online Mode.

Note

The identification is done once when switching from Offline to Online mode.

If a Communication Module is a Master Unit, and it has several slave devices configured below his level (e.g. PROFIBUS®, CANopen®, PROFINET®), they will have always the same state as the Master, i.e. there is no identification check for the Slaves of a field bus.

Apart from the online availability the blue circle icon indicates also the possibility to activate a diagnosis view on the right screen part by a double-click on the tree node with the green circle.
