CANopen¶
In CODESYS, a CANopen network consists of one manager and devices that act as masters and slaves, whereby a device can be modular or non-modular.
In addition, CODESYS distinguishes between remote devices and local devices.
- CANopen remote device: In CODESYS, a CANopen remote device is a slave device that you add below a CANopen manager in the device tree of a project.
- CANopen local device: In CODESYS, a CANopen local device is a slave device that you add directly below a CANbus node in the device tree of a project. Therefore, you can use the CODESYS runtime system as a CANopen slave.
